Wings of Freedom Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 that was born out of the desire to help animals in need. We are a Connecticut-based and incorporated grass-roots volunteer organization who work diligently to be the voice of those animals in need. Our primary area of concentration is the southern New England states, we are dedicated to helping local animals in this area.
We have 5 main objectives:
To rescue domestic animals from shelters and abusive situations and to rehabilitate, maintain health, train and find placement in loving homes.
Education of the public
The need to spay or neuter
The value of and the need for vaccination programs and preventive medicines
Proper nutrition and exercise
Training and safety
Why it is important to report and end all forms of abuse
Help end the over-population situation
Reduce the need for high-kill shelters
Stop the suffering from animal neglect and abuse
Our goal for every animal in our WOFAR family is to find the right “forever” homes. Adopting a rescue animal is both rewarding and admirable. These animals were given up for various reasons and the people that touch their lives from the moment they are surrendered play a huge role in giving them the best chance for the great life they deserve!
Most rescue dogs have had a very tough time. At the very least, they have been rejected by a family they once loved and protected. We will do our best to make sure that these animals spend the rest of their lives in a loving home with a family that will provide them with the appropriate medical care, attention, training and most importantly, the love they deserve.
Our goal is to place every one of our animals in a home that is committed to loving and nurturing them during their transition period and for the rest of their lives.
All of our animals are current on all vaccines including Distemper, Rabies and Bordatella (for kennel cough). Each has been examined by a veterinarian and given a Health Certificate if needed and they have passed it. They receive monthly heart worm and flea/tick preventative. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
